Neerparavai (2012) is a poignant Tamil-language drama directed by Seenu Ramasamy that examines faith, survival, and the human cost of economic desperation in a small coastal community. Built around a tightly focused story, the film centers on Mary (portrayed by Vasundhara), a widowed fisherwoman who struggles to provide for her family after her husband’s death at sea. The narrative follows Mary’s attempts to recover money lent in hopes of sending her son to work on a distant fishing trawler, and the consequences that follow when hopes collide with harsh realities. I only heard this for the first time a few years ago. I was pretty impressed, it’s a lot better than its rep. Pleasuredome had more peaks, like you say, but more filler too. All the cover versions midway really bring that album down for me. Guess they got sick of doing them too, judging by the Heroin story!
