The story of begins with the three Patel brothers, Peter (Owen Wilson), Francis (Adrien Brody), and Jack (Jason Schwartzman), who have grown apart over the years. Peter, the eldest, has called a family meeting on a luxurious Indian train, the Darjeeling Limited, which will take them from Jodhpur to Delhi. The brothers are tasked with completing a spiritual journey, as dictated by their mother, Mrs. Kumar (Anjelica Huston), who has given them a list of tasks to complete in order to reconnect with each other and find themselves.
