"Let It Be" was originally intended to be a return to the band's roots, with a more stripped-down, live-in-the-studio approach. However, the recording process was marred by disagreements, and the project was eventually handed over to Phil Spector, who added his signature orchestral arrangements to the tracks. The resulting album was released in May 1970, but its making had left a sour taste in the band members' mouths.
